This low-growing biennial is predominantly found in shaded spots such as woodlands, woodland rides and occasionally amongst hedgerows. It is covered in tiny hairs and has narrow, oval leaves. It produces stunning, vibrant blue, five-petalled flowers with orange or white centres from March till June.
