A low-growing perennial wildflower which spreads with its runners. Very quickly it can form a dense matt of stems and leaves on the earth. It was commonly associated with hedgerows years ago but has since declined in these spots. It can be found in partial shade and produces delicate and fragrant violet-blue and sometimes white flowers.
