Dog’s Mercury

Mercurialis perennis

A highly toxic perennial plant that is an indicator of ancient woodlands. It mainly reproduces by rhizomes and is often seen in Spring having carpeted the woodland floor. Small, greenish yellow flowers arise from its dense foliage in February through to April.
