This perennial grass is typically found in shaded spots and can form dense clumps. Usually, it is found in and amongst woody areas, as well as shaded chalk soils. It is popular due to its bright green leaves which are soft and somewhat hairy to the touch. Drooped spikelets will appear from June, boasting a lovely light green to golden brown tinge.
