This perennial grass is usually found on wetter soils in places such as wet grasslands, pond edges and marshy areas; it can even grow to float in shallow water. It grows parallel to the ground before sharply growing upwards. Dense, cylindrical flowerheads are produced which bare similarities to a ?foxtail?.
