Common Valerian

Valeriana officinalis

This hardy herbaceous perennial is tall and can grow up to 150cm. It has distinctive hollow and ridged stems which support its clump growing nature. It is found in a range of places and is fairly unfussy but is best suited to moist spots with some shade. Its white to pale pink flowers are arranged un clusters as umbels atop of the steps. It is a frequent visit for many pollinators.
