Branched Bur-Reed
Sparganium erectum
This hardy aquatic perennial is typically found on the shallower slopes of pond and lake edges. It has distinctly branched and erect stems with long, pointed leaves. It produces curious greenish white female flowerheads which somewhat resemble the shape of a conker?s shell, though much more compact and grooved. Male flowerheads grow above the female heads and are smaller and browner.
