Yorkshire Fog

Holcus lanatus

This tufted perennial grass is very common throughout the UK and found on grasslands, roadsides, gardens and woodland. It has mellow silver green leaves and produces creamy purple flowerheads. It is the primary food resource for caterpillars of the Small Skipper butterfly.
