This low-growing, mat-forming perennial is mainly found in and around coastal locations and grasslands. It has trifoliate leaves and produces pink flowerheads resembling most clovers. It is distinguished by its fruiting body which becomes somewhat fluffy and round, resembling a strawberry or a stick of candyfloss.
