This relatively low-growing perennial wildflower is typically found growing on dry acidic soils and can be seen in places such as grassland and heathland. It has distinctive arrow-like leaves that have pronounced lobes at the base and reddish stems. It produces reddish brown flowerheads that appear from June. A popular plant for foragers due to its wide range of culinary uses.
