Meadow Foxtail
Alopecurus pratensis
Similar to Marsh Foxtail, this hardy perennial typically grows larger than its counterpart and prefers damp sites such as grasslands and roadsides, but it doesn?t tolerate soil that is overly waterlogged or wet. It produces very long, columnar flowerheads that resemble a fox?s tail. It is a food source for caterpillars of the Essex Skipper butterfly.
