Great Burnet
Sanguisorba officinalis
This tall and somewhat wiry perennial is typically found on wetter soils and is associated with river meadows and traditional hay meadows. Its pinnate leaves are slightly toothed and it also forms a basal rosette. Its oval flowerheads are a striking crimson or maroon which gently bob on their wiry stems. Loved by a wide range of pollinators.
