Great Burnet – saxifrage
Pimpinella major
This relatively tall perennial is often found on roadsides and in hedgerows as well as in some meadows, favouring calcareous soils and sometimes clay. It has a hollow stem which is notably grooved and produces deeply serrated, pinnate leaves. From June it boasts delicate umbels of tiny, pale pink flowers which are visited by a wide range of pollinators.
