Common Vetch

Vicia sativa

A climbing annual of the pea family that is often found in grasslands and on verges. It is a great nitrogen fixer and is often used for cover crops and herbal leys. Small pinkish purple flowers appear alone or in pairs from April onwards and are especially adored by bumblebees.
