Cocksfoot

Dactylis glomerata

This tussocky perennial grass is common throughout the UK and easily sighted on grasslands, roadsides and woodland rides. It has distinct, slightly hairy leaves that appear blade-like. The purplish pink flowerheads are somewhat fluffy and can resemble a bird?s foot, hence the common name.
