Viper’s Bugloss
Echium vulgare
This biennial wildflower can be found on a range of sites that are typically dry and sunny. The hairy stalk is covered with striking maroon spots, from which wonderful conical, pale blue flowers emerge. The flowers also have distinct protruding stamens which tend to be a deep purple. This showy flower is simply adored by pollinators, from bees to butterflies and moths.
