This low-growing perennial sedge is found around the coast and grows in habitats where it can be reached or sprayed by saltwater. Habitats such as saltmarshes and sand dunes are where it is most commonly seen. It has a unique appearance as it boasts long bracts and distinct, dense flowerheads which has both male and female flowers.
