Common Salt-Marsh Grass

Puccinella maritima (SA)

This hardy, creeping perennial grass is crucial in stabilising the ground of the lower and middle zones of saltmarshes. It has in-rolled leaves which can appear as a pale silvery green. It produces dense flowerheads along its stem which can appear as a blend of greyish green to purple tones. A key species for saltmarsh restoration projects.
